Woman during Chinese traditional massage - Gua Sha

What Is Guasha?

Guasha is a therapeutic technique that involves scraping the skin with a tool to relieve pain and tension.

The repeated action of stroking and pressing on the skin creates small, red, rash-like dots called petechia, which translates to the Chinese term gua sha, “to scrape sand”. Guasha is commonly used as a complementary treatment to herbal medicine, acupuncture and cupping.
